    January 18, 2019 3:56PM CST
    Share
    • Vox.com contributor Kelsey Piper calls it the “best 10-year-challenge, yet:” humanity.
    • In referencing the trending social media challenge in which then-and-now photos are shared showing how users have changed, or aged, over the past 10 years, Piper reports that some things have changed for the better here on Earth.
    • Extreme poverty, child mortality, and youth illiteracy are all down, while life expectancy is up.
    • Globally, extreme poverty has fallen from 18.1% to 8.6% from 2008 to 2018; child Mortality is down to 3.9% from 5.8%; youth illiteracy has dropped from 11.3% to 8.6%; and life expectancy has increased nearly 2.5-years from 69.8 to 72.2 years, according to statistics from World Bank, the UN, UNDP, and UNESCO.
    • How have things changed for the better in your life? What do you hope will get better in the next ten years?
