Background Check, FOID Reform Legislation Signed

A newly signed law will make changes in the FOID process and in how guns are sold privately. Governor J.B. Pritzker signed the landmark legislation yesterday that expands background check requirements to private gun transfers. It also requires Illinois State Police to remove guns from people with revoked FOID cards, funding the effort through changes in FOID fees. The law also provides investment in community mental health programs.
