Former Governor Rod Blagojevich is suing for the right to run for office again. Blagojevich filed the federal lawsuit yesterday arguing that the Illinois State Senate violated his civil rights by banning him from running for state or local office. The former governor’s 14-year sentence was commuted in February 2020 after he had served over seven years by then-President Trump. Blagojevich had been convicted of trying to sell the Senate seat of then-President-Elect Barack Obama.
