Channahon Gets Rental Bikes Along The I & M Canal
Channahon has become the second suburban community to get rental bikes. Similar to the Divy bikes in Chicago, Channahon has Zagster, a bicycle rental facility completed in conjunction with the I&M Canal Corridor Association.
The way it works is that you can download the Zagster app to your smartphone, go to any station located along the canal, and rent a bicycle equipped with a basket, bell and headlight for $2.50 an hour.
Bike rental stations are located in LaSalle and Morris. Utica and Lockport are coming soon. The Channahon bike station is location in front of Skateland. The bikes are already being used as Channahon has 5 bikes but as of Wednesday there were a total of 7 bikes, meaning some people have returned bikes from other towns as they cycled along the I & M Canal.
Eventually there will be 25 bikes between the five stations.
