Exelon: Byron Nuclear Plant Will Close Without Legislative Action

Exelon is fighting to keep its nuclear plant in Byron open. The energy company released a statement yesterday saying the Byron plant will run out of fuel and shut down permanently on September 13th if legislation to subsidize its refueling isn’t passed in time. The Illinois Senate passed a version of the clean energy bill early yesterday morning, but the House adjourned before taking action. Leaders say the House could vote on the measure as early as next week.
