Scary moments for a family on a Sunday outing. A family of six became distressed on the DuPage River in Channahon between the Shepley Road Bridge and the Troy Sportsman Club. Their rafts became deflated but they were able to find refuge on a nearby tree in the water until rescuers could arrive. Some of the individuals were found with personal flotation devices and others did not have them.

Three boats were used to extract all six individuals to the Sportsman Club. Ambulances were standing by to evaluate the family, although no injuries were sustained and all refused medical transport.
