Joliet police seeking the public’s help in identifying the woman who struck and killed a pedestrian in the parking lot of the Supermercado Las Palmas along Plainfield Road/US 30 near Clara Avenue.

On Monday, March 21st at about 3:26 p.m. Officers responded to a report of an individual down in the parking lot. Upon arrival, Officers located a 39-year-old male with extensive injuries.

Information gathered at the scene determined that an argument took place between the victim and the female driver of a sport utility vehicle after her vehicle had struck the victim’s parked motorcycle. As the victim approached the vehicle on foot, the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward and turned into the victim. The victim was struck by the vehicle, which then fled southbound on Plainfield Road without providing aid or assistance.

The victim was transported to Amita St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department where he was later pronounced deceased. The suspect vehicle was later located unoccupied and it was towed by Detectives. This incident appears to be isolated in nature and there is no threat to the public.
