Heavy Equipment Needed To Clear 600 Pound Animal From Interstate

Elk found on I-55 near I-80/WJOL newsroom covered up the blood on the roadway in this picture.

It’s not a deer, it’s an elk. The massive 600 pound animal was found on southbound I-55 at the westbound exit of I-80. The Department of Natural Resources have confirmed it is a Bull Elk from Kendall County as it has a GPS tracker tag on the antlers. IDOT just brought in a heavy front end loader to clear the animal. The antlers were broken off and on the side of the road.
