IDOT Holds Informational Meetings For Residents That Will Be Affected By I-80 Reconfiguration
IDOT has been meeting with residents who live around I-80 and the Des Plaines River during Phase 1 of the I-80 reconfiguration. IDOT met with resident this past June and September. Tony Quigley from IDOT says they’re informing residents who own land there, the process for expropriation. Quigley says residents were calm and understanding at the meetings.
Phase 1 is almost complete, then phase 2 expected to begin late this year. Phase 2 will concentrate on the design of the I-80 between Minooka and Route 30 in New Lenox. Construction could begin on I-80 over the Des Plaines River in 2 years. There are 42 residents impacted by the reconfiguration and one commercial property owner who live on either side of the Des Plaines River.
