- While other businesses are dropping like flies amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Illinois recreational marijuana industry continues to thrive, setting a new sales record for September.
- The state raked in $67.6 million from cannabis sales last month, topping the previous month by 5.8 percent, according to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. In fact, sales of recreational weed in Illinois have increased every month since February, the department reports.
- All totaled, Illinois marijuana dispensaries have sold almost 9.5 products in 2020, making more than $431 million, according to state data.
- Considering how much money Illinois has made, why haven’t all 50 states made marijuana legal? Does it make sense for alcohol to be legal when marijuana isn’t?
