Illinois High Schools Facing Referee Shortage

Illinois high schools are facing a referee shortage. The Illinois High School Association says the total number of referees has dropped by about two-thousand in the last nine years. The shortage is serious enough that some schools are considering game day schedule changes to avoid cancellations. High turnover rates are being blamed for the shortage, along with a lack of replacements for those retiring.
