Illinois State Police District 5 Announces Operation ByPass

Illinois State troopers in District 5 cracking down on commercial vehicles who don’t stop at the weigh stations.  Operation ByPass will target unsafe commercial vehicle drivers who willingly and knowingly don’t stop to get weighed.

District 5 has six fixed weigh stations:
Interstate 55 (north and south) near Bolingbrook
Interstate 80 (east and west) near Frankfort
Interstate 57 (north and south) near Peotone

District 5 troopers will strictly enforce all laws pertaining to commercial motor vehicle enforcement during these details and take the appropriate enforcement action to remove unsafe drivers and vehicles. Furthermore, drivers who demonstrate a lack of understanding their duties and responsibilities while operating a commercial motor vehicle may be subjected to retesting for their commercial driver’s license at their respective department of motor vehicle facility.
