ILLUMINATE LOCKPORT Ribbon Cutting & Project Details

ILLUMINATE LOCKPORT is a public art program that will project a 4,000- square-foot video commemorating Lockport’s history on the façade of the Historic Norton
building at 201 West 10th Street. Beginning April 21st, visitors can see local and international projection artists every week, Wednesday through Sunday from dusk until 11:00 p.m. The two short films on display will be “The History of the I&M Canal” and “The Reign of the Umbrella Man” curated by Eric Scott Fischer. Eric is a Chicago-based artist, animator, illustrator, and filmmaker. In 2021, he also designed one of the iconic fiberglass ducks from the Lockport Summer Art Series duck program! Eric studied film and video at Columbia College in Chicago and has spent the last 20 years freelancing in art, design, animation, and film/video. Local artists are encouraged to submit content celebrating the Lockport community online at cityoflockport.net/illuminate.

The generosity of the following donors and supporters made this project possible: Homer Companies, Walmart, Bettenhausen Automotive, Lockport Summer Art Series, and the City of Lockport. There are still some sponsorship opportunities available. More information is available at cityoflockport.net/sponsorship.

The Lockport Summer Art Series will hold an official ribbon cutting outside 201 West 10th Street on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 8:00 p.m., along with a premiere showing of “The History of the I & M Canal,” “Reign of the Umbrella Man,” and other community short films. While supplies last, the first 100 attendees will receive a LED foam glow stick. All are invited to attend this exciting evening in Lockport!
