During the The Joliet city council meeting on Tuesday, October 1st, the council is trying to come up with ideas to come together. Joliet Mayor Bob O’Dekirk referenced a tough week, between himself and the police department, and mentioned a 9 month old vote to get rid of Interim city manager Marty Shannahan. The mayor asked the longest serving councilman Mike Turk for an idea.

Turk suggested the council go on retreat. Interim City Manager Steve Jones suggested it be a team building meeting with an arbitrator.

Meanwhile, Inspector General Chris Regis is not talking about an investigation into Police Chief Al Roachner, no one seems to know the genesis of the investigation and Regis would not comment.

Also at last night’s meeting Joliet Mayor Bob O’Dekirk was a tie-breaking vote to tax recreational marijuana when dispensaries open in Joliet. While the details still have to be worked out, it’s the first step in bringing recreational marijuana to Joliet.
