Joliet police respond to a violent home and find themselves needing to call for crisis negotiators. Office press release below:

On 09/21/19 at approximately 2:45pm, Joliet Police Officers were dispatched to the 8300 blk of Buckingham Lane in reference to a Domestic Disturbance reported by neighbors who heard a female screaming at the residence. Upon arrival the responding Officer was met by a 32 year old female victim, and a 9 year old female juvenile victim in front of the residence. Both the 32 year old female, and the 9 year old female juvenile appeared to have fresh injuries. The Officer was advised that the sound of gunshots came from the house
moments before his arrival.

The Officer was also advised by the 32 year old female that the suspect, a 35 year old male, was married to her but they are now separated. She also advised that their 1-1/2 year old baby they had when together was also inside the residence with him.

The Officer tried to make contact with the 35 year old male suspect who was barricaded in the residence, but his attempts were unsuccessful. The Joliet Police departments Special Operations Squad and Crisis Negotiators responded to the scene. Attempts were made to communicate with the 35 year old male suspect in order to get him to come out peacefully. All attempts at communicating with the suspect met with negative results, so the SOS Team breached the residence to conduct a search of the residence and take the 35 year old male suspect into custody.

The search revealed that the 35 year old male suspect and the 1-1/2 year old male juvenile were deceased from apparent gunshot  wounds inflicted by the suspect. Both female victims were transported to St. Joseph Hospital to be treated for their injuries. This is still an on-going investigation.
