Joliet Man Sentenced to Nine Years for Fatal Hit-and-Run

A Joliet man was sentenced to nine years in prison after a hit-and-run crash in Bolingbrook that killed an Orland Park woman. Joliet resident Eduardo Avila pled guilty to one count of failure to report an accident involving serious injury or death. The November 14th sentencing hearing is two years and a day after the death of Tricia Hoyt. She was walking along a frontage road late at night after leaving a party in Bolingbrook when she was struck by Avila’s car. Her body was found Sunday more then nine hours after she had initially been hit.
