Lockport is joining a long list in the Will County area that will not sell recreational marijuana. Lockport City Council voted to ban the measure this week. Lockport is opting out of anything to do with marijuana. No dispensaries, no growing facilities and no transports of recreational or medical marijuana. They join, Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Mokena and Naperville, but Naperville will put a non binding referendum on the March ballot asking Naperville voters if they want to see recreational marijuana sold in their city. Recreational marijuana in Illinois begins January 1, 2020.
