If a co-worker from Channahon is a little cranky today, you’ll have to excuse them, they have a good reason. No water. A Joliet water main break has shut down water to Channahon east of I-55. There was a complete loss of pressure according to the Public Works department. A boil order is in effect until further notice. A reverse 9-1-1 call has gone out to affected residents.

The boil order went into effect at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 for Channahon Public Water Supply customers located east of I-55. Do not drink water from the tap without boiling it first. Bring water to a boil, let it boil for 5 minutes and then let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food until further notice. If you know your water comes from another safe source, such as a private well, you may disregard this notice.

The boil order will remain in effect as a precaution until water sample test results indicate the water is safe for consumption. Initial test results are expected in about 48 hours from last night. A reverse 911 message will alert residents if the Boil Order is lifted.
