A unique exhibit displaying burnt artifacts made into art will go on display this week at the Joliet Area Historical Museum. Art From The Ashes was initially displayed at the Great Prison Break-In at the Old Joliet Prison this summer. Artist Sue Regis was approached by the co-chair of the old Joliet prison committee to make something of what was thought to be a piece of glass. It turned out to be plastic and asked another artist to make something of it. The idea snowballed from that initial request.

More than a dozen local artists used burnt objects and artifacts to create something new and will be featured at the Joliet Area Historical Museum beginning February 1st through September 30th. This wildly creative exhibition tells the story of criminal history through art.
