One Injured in Crash on Interstate 55
Illinois State Police District 5 patrol units responded to I- 55 northbound .5 mile north of IL Route 126 for a serious crash involving a single unit passenger vehicle. The vehicle was traveling on I-55 northbound .5 mile north of Route 126 when it lost control, drove off the roadway into the right ditch and rolled over numerous times before coming to rest in the right ditch. The driver sustained severe injuries and was extricated by Plainfield and Bolingbrook Fire departments. Life Star medical helicopter transport was called to the scene to transport the driver. The driver was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL. and is currently admitted at Good Samaritan Hospital. All lanes of I-55 were closed for 10 minutes while the helicopter left the scene. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
