Owner Will Be Responsible For Cost Of Clean-Up

After a week of being in disarray, the Launching Pad restaurant parking lot has been cleaned up. The home of the Gemini Giant along Route 66 at 810 East Baltimore Street in Wilmington has been closed as the owners are trying to sell it. But the parking lot was filled with broken glass, and equipment from inside the restaurant was strewn across the parking lot. The Gemini Giant was featured on an Illinois float in the Rose Bowl Parade on New Year’s Day.

Wilmington Police Department attempted to speak with owner of the property over a nuisance complaint, but were unable to reach the owner for several days.

On the morning of Monday, January 8th, the Wilmington Public Works Department, in coordination with the Wilmington Police Department, and assisted by the Wilmington Fire Protection District, was present at the property and worked to bring the property into compliance. Along with the various citations, the property owner will be responsible for costs associated with the cleanup effort.
