Flying anywhere today? You might need to push back your plans with flights delays occurring at major airports.
The delays are due to staff shortages at air traffic control centers near Washington and Jacksonville, Florida – and airports in Atlanta, New York, New Jersey, Orlando, and Philadelphia have been affected.
Trish Gilbert, executive vice president of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, points to the ongoing partial government shutdown, telling CNN, “You can’t mess with a system that is so integral to the United States,” adding “This is reckless, what has been going on with the shutdown.”
According to a spokesperson, the White House is aware of the situation.
Have you put off flight plans due to the shutdown? Do you think the length of the shutdown will cause many federal workers to look for private sector jobs?
