When you attend the Joliet Slammers baseball game this Saturday night, you get to help out a local family who is going through something no parent wants to go through. Austin is a six-year old baseball and hockey enthusiast, who in January, was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer. In addition to chemotherapy, Austin had to have part of his leg removed in May.

With skyrocketing medical bills for the family of five, DuPage Medical Group Field — home of the Joliet Slammers — wanted to do something to help out. This Saturday, when you buy a 10-dollar ticket to the game against the Southern Illinois Miners, five-dollars of the ticket price will go to Austin’s family.

His mom says, “Austin has been an inspiration for us with his big smile through it all.”

If you’d like to be part of “Austin’s Army,” attend this Saturday’s Joliet Slammers’ baseball game. First pitch is at 6:05.
