• Guns ‘N Roses guitarist Slash is taking a trip down memory lane.
  • In an interview with Kerrang, Slash talked about the first time he ever heard Axl Rose’s voice.
  • It was on a cassette tape Izzy Stradlin (co-founding GNR guitarist) played for him.
  • Slash said, “My first impression was that it was very soulful. It had a bluesy, melodic thing to it, which was rare for that type of voice. You didn’t often hear somebody hold that melody together so naturally”.
  • Soon after he went to a show, not realizing he was going to see the same person he heard on the cassette.
  • They were f***ing hardcore on stage. Izzy was doing knee slides and Axl was bashing down. It was cool, like F***”
  • And as they say, the rest is history.
  • Do you think Slash is one of the best guitarists of all-time? Have you seen Guns ‘N Roses live in concert?
