Will County veterans are invited to an information breakfast on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Plainfield American Legion (24741 W. Renwick Rd., Plainfield).

State Senator Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant is working with representatives from state and local agencies to hold this informational event as a token of appreciation for servicemen and women across the region.

“We cannot thank our veterans enough for their service and sacrifice,” Bertino-Tarrant said. “Events like this annual breakfast serve as a way to show our gratitude and support for our nation’s heroes and their families.”

Representatives from the Attorney General’s Military and Veterans Rights Bureau, Will County Clerk Lauren Staley-Ferry’s Office, Inspire Heroes, Honor Flight Chicago, Veterans Assistance Commission of Kendall County, Will County Veterans Assistance Commission will be on hand to discuss services and program they offer.

The Veterans’ Breakfast will also feature guest speaker, Acting Director Linda Chapa LaVia, from the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs. She will discuss functions of the bureau as well as its past and current initiatives.

Bertino-Tarrant has been a champion for veterans. She sponsored a numerous laws including the creation of a program at the Illinois Finance Authority that allows veterans to apply for and receive a loan to start a business.
