Study: Teen use down in legal pot states

    July 8, 2019 3:12PM CDT
    Share

    • Well, isn’t this ironic? A new report suggests that legalized recreational marijuana has actually resulted in fewer youth toking it up.
    • According to the paper published in the medical journal JAMA Pediatrics, the number of high school kids reporting use in the past 30 days dropped 8% in states with legalized recreational pot. There was 9% drop among youth who reported using at least 10 times in the past 30 days.
    • The study contradicts others which suggest no change in usage among teens.
    • If the numbers are correct, why do you think fewer teens reported recreational use? Is the number of corner drug dealers declining in legalized states?
