The Future Of Transportation In Will County Needs Your Input
The public is invited to attend Residents United For Safer Highways, R.U.S.H. presents RUSH 4: 2030 and Beyond “The Road To Reality.” This informational public forum will provide a realistic and comprehensive look at Will County’s future growth and transportation needs over the next decade and beyond.
It will be held on Thursday, November 7th, 2019 at New Lenox Village Hall at 1 Veterans Parkway in New Lenox between 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
You’ll hear from transportation analyst Mary Craighead from the Illinois Economic Policy Institute on current and future transportation needs throughout Will County in the next decade. Current and future transportation needs will be discussed such as the Peotone Airport, the Illiana Expressway, I-55 and I-80 road and bridge improvements. We’ll discuss NorthPoint/Compass Park that affects Joliet, Elwood and Manhattan, plus RidgePort Logistics Center at I-55 and Lorenzo Road and CenterPoint Intermodal Center in Joliet and Elwood.
Marc Poulos from the Indiana, Illinois & Iowa Foundation for Fair Contracting will offer a realistic summary of planned and anticipated development projects in Will County and how they will affect the current infrastructure as well as what is needed to meet the future demands.
Denise Winfrey, Will County Board Speaker and Nick Palmer, Chief of Staff for Will County Executive Larry Walsh will provide an overview of ongoing efforts with IDOT, CMAP and the Will County Governmental League on truck routing, land use and the need to increase safety at rural intersections.
IDOT officials, Will County Mayors and area Representatives and State Senators are invited to the event.
