Trial date set for 9/11 mastermind
August 30, 2019 3:00PM CDT
- Trial has been set for a mastermind behind the September 11 terrorist attacks.
- Air Force Col. W. Shane Cohen, a US military Judge at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, set a January 11, 2021 date for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four others.
- NPR reports that date may get extended, however, as the government has several earlier deadlines to make – including turning over state’s evidence. Something defense attorneys say the government hasn’t been forthcoming with. They call the trial date unrealistic.
- Do you think these individuals will ever face trial in the deaths of the nearly 3,000 people killed on September 11, 2001? Should they be executed if convicted?
