  • Michigan has become the first Midwestern state — and the 10th state overall — to permit the sale of recreational marijuana.
  • In a law that went into effect Thursday, residents who are 21 or older can legally keep 10 ounces of weed in their homes and grow up to 12 marijuana plants for personal use. They’re also allowed to carry up to 2.5 ounces — the highest limit in the country.
  • In spite of the new law, pot dealers won’t have to shut down their operations just yet. The application process for vendors to sell marijuana could take up to one year.
  • Do you think it’s confusing for marijuana to be legal in some states but not in others? Do you think Michigan’s carrying limit is unnecessarily high?
