The US Senate is expected to approve a measure today to reopen the federal government after the White House agreed to sign it.
The continuing resolution would reopen the federal government for three weeks, until February 15, ending the longest shutdown in U.S. government history.
One-quarter of the federal government has been closed since the impasse began on December 22.
The Hill reports that both Senator Majority leader Mitch McConnell and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer expect the CR to pass and be signed by the President.
Earlier today the Boston Red Sox said it was postponing its planned February 15 White House visit because of the shutdown.
Do you think a three-week CR is a good idea? Do you think a long term agreement can be reached before February 15.
