One of the great unsung heroes of rock’n’roll, Jim Dunlop Sr., has died.
Dunlop’s legacy? Guitar picks! Everyone who’s ever played a guitar has probably used a Dunlop pick at some point.
He founded Dunlop Manufacturing in 1965 and became world famous for picks, along with products like strings, pedals, and other guitar accessories.
The unique shapes and textures of Dunlop picks had a huge impact on the guitar-playing world. Metallica’s Kirk Hammett once said Dunlop picks “completely changed how I play.”
Should Dunlop be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Guitar players – what kind of pick do you prefer?
